Dublin Business School or also known as DBS is one of the two of the largest independent colleges in the country of Ireland. Students study in DBS mainly due to city centred location, industry oriented courses and placement assistance offered. Dublin Business School was first established in 1975 and was known as Accountancy and Business College, providing evening courses for students preparing for the examinations of the professional accounting bodies. Later in 1989 the College introduced its first undergraduate degree programme under a franchise arrangement with Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU). Formerly known as LSB College, In 1992 DBS became a designated institution with the Higher Education and Training Awards Council (HETAC). In 2003 the Kaplan Inc. brought the Dublin Business School and became it's the formal owner. DBS brought the European Business School Dublin and that was a collection of eight different independent business schools which are present all over Europe.
DBS joined hands with Portobello College in the year 2007 and became one of the leading 3rd Level independent institutions of Ireland. It has the capability of providing more than 100 accredited courses along with a few non-accredited courses. In 2013 following a strategic review and with mutual agreement with LJMU, DBS decided to seek accreditation of all of its academic awards by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI).
